Our ‘Snow
Bunnies’ turned into ‘Rev Heads’ today! Unfortunately, bad weather led to the
closure of Mt Hutt. This meant that today was the day: The inaugural Grammar
Grand Prix 200. The teachers were chasing their fourth consecutive title and
had the students shaking in their brightly coloured ‘onesies’. It was a tight
contest with all teams giving it their all to win the coveted title of Go-Kart
Champion. Some dodgey tactics from most teams had the karts drifting all over
the course with some students spinning out of control. Miss McGregor won fastest
lap of the day breaking the 12 second barrier. However, this feat wasn’t enough
to pull the Teacher Team over the line being defeated by a very strong and
competitive team Dark Blue by a mere 2 laps. An aggressive team led by Zane
‘Zippy’ Kennedy were deserving winners - their team cohesion in pit lane led to
enviable changeovers. Commiserations to the other teams, it was a tight contest
but there can only be one winner.

Winners are grinners! |

Time for a
pizza lunch amongst daffodils in the park and a quick game of touch before our
final stop for the day: Antarctic Centre.
 |
Guess the student...it starts with a "J" |
An opportunity for our students to
develop an understanding of life in Antarctica. From what to wear, watching
penguins frolic, experiencing -18 degree temperature (impressive will power
from Tom who managed this in merely shorts and a t-shirt!) and riding in a hagglund.
Some weary
heads on the bus ride home tonight. The rest will give us more energy to cheer
on the mighty Cowboys tonight. You will hear us all the way from Methven supporting
our boys!
Quote of
the day
During our
Antarctic Centre experience:
Antarctic
Centre guide: Who knows what type of feathers are used to insulate the jackets worn in Antarctica?
Jade:
Penguin feathers?
It was a
good guess Jade as penguins have 10,000 feathers, but not correct on this
occasion!
